2013 Order Form

Majors Photography is one of few studios focusing on the Special Education community. Owner and Senior Photographer, Meg Majors has a BFA in Photography from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. She has been working professionally since 2001, all the while focusing on children who are Deafblind or who have Multiple Disabilities. She has an admiration for children who have special needs. Her professional goal is to offer families professional portraits of their child to share and be proud of. Having worked with children involved in Special Education programs in America, Turkey, Ghana and Kenya, her experience and knowledge of this culture highly developed. This unique experience sets her apart from traditional portrait studios offering school photographs. Meg understands the unique needs of these individuals and offers the support, energy and respect that they deserve.

Picture Day

Many Special Education schools do not have the same tradition of offering annual class and individual portraits as public schools. We understand that for many families, traveling to a portrait studio or waiting in line at a walk-in photography service is not always possible or practical. Majors Photography offers a solution to a problem that many families struggle with. Portraying the individual’s true self in a comfortable and familiar environment is our number one goal. Our program is a hybrid between traditional school photography and fine art portrait sittings. Our goal is to balance quality and affordability.

Majors Photography will provide promotional material to notify parents of upcoming picture days. A brochure will be distributed to all families along with an order form and price list prior to picture day. Families will be asked to pre-order their desired package. All students will be photographed, regardless of pre-order status. Prints and packages may be ordered at any time before or after Picture Day. Majors Photography offers several options that work best with children who have Special Needs.    We ask for input from the school to develop a system that suits the unique needs of the program. Options include; “Studio Session” (indoors on a neutral background with professional lighting) or “Outdoor Session” (with professional lighting for a relaxed and casual portrait). Each student will have up to fifteen minutes with a photographer. It should be expected that we will be working on campus for at least two full school days, in order to accommodate all students. In a location decided by the school, Picture Day will be setup in a centralized location, accessible to all students.

At Majors Photography, we feel strongly that the family should have the choice to select the image that best represents their child. Proofs will be available for view online within 2-3 weeks after Picture Day. Each family will be assigned a unique Access Code to a private online gallery which they can share with friends, take their time to decide, compare and contrast poses. Students will be given a Reminder Card after their session to bring home. Additional prints of multiple images may be ordered online at any time.
Pre-Orders: The will be a discount offered on Pre-Orders. Families that have pre-ordered are given 2 weeks from the day proofs are online to select their image. After the deadline, our studio will select for them. All pre-orders will be printed and shipped to the school at the same time. Reminders will be sent to families to help them with the decision.
Non Pre-Orders: Orders coming in after Picture Day will print and ship as received, there is no deadline to select image.

A limited amount of discount vouchers will be made available for families facing financial hardships. Digital files of all students will be offered to the school for use in databases, Identification Cards, etc. upon request.
Reshoot Policy: If there are no technical problems with the photograph and the guardian has subjective issues with the portraits, we will offer a reshoot. “Take 2” Picture Day (aka reshoot day) will be three to four weeks following the delivery of proofs from the first Picture Day. Any students who were absent on Picture Day will be photographed, along with any students who wish to have a reshoot.
